Steamboat Mountain School, located in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, is a private day and boarding school for competitive ski and riders. The school offers a holistic environment, fostering diverse interests alongside vigorous academics. In partnership with the renowned Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club, the school provides a comprehensive academic and alpine sports program.

Steamboat Mountain School’s winter athletes gain exceptional training opportunities with direct access to premier facilities like Steamboat Ski Resort, Howelsen Hill Ski Area, and Colorado’s extended winter season. Students from across the globe come to Steamboat for its world-class education paired with elite athletic training. The school’s distinctive eight-term modular schedule, known as “the Mod,” offers flexibility during competition season, allowing students to balance their academic and athletic commitments. Each student is supported by a dedicated learning team to ensure academic success while traveling, training, and competing.

Notable alumni who are current members of the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Team include Cooper Puckett ‘21, Riley Jacobs ‘21, and Sawyer Graves ‘25. With individualized support both in and out of the classroom, teachers equip students with the tools to develop confidence, curiosity, and empathy—skills vital for success, both on the slopes and beyond.
