Future Hosts Announced for FIS Alpine World Ski Championships

Reykjavik, Iceland—The FIS Council recently met in Reykjavik, just before the 55th International Ski Congress, to decide on the future hosts of the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships. The Council made several key decisions, focusing on the 2029 and 2031 championships.

Narvik (Norway) to Host in 2029

Narvik, Norway, will host the 2029 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships. In the first round of voting, Narvik received 11 votes, surpassing Val Gardena’s eight and Soldeu’s single vote. Narvik’s unique location above the Arctic Circle, with its stunning fjord views and challenging slopes, will offer a unique experience for athletes and fans. The 2029 championship in Narvik will surely be an event to remember.

Val Gardena (Italy) to Host in 2031

Val Gardena, Italy, will host the 2031 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships. The selection process was intense, with Val Gardena receiving 14 votes in the second round, beating Soldeu’s six votes.
