Following an extensive search and discussions with a highly qualified pool of candidates, Brad Wall emerged as the individual uniquely qualified to assume the role of alpine program director at Ski & Snowboard Club Vail, according to SSCV Chief Operating Officer John Hale.

Wall, a Dartmouth College graduate and member of the Australian Ski Team from 1997-2006, comes to SSCV after spending the past four years as athletic director at Burke Mountain Academy. During Wall’s time at Burke, he led an overhaul of their alpine program, which culminated in the academy’s recognition by U.S. Ski & Snowboard as the alpine club of the year in 2019 and 2020.

As an accomplished alpine ski racer, Wall represented Australia in two Olympic Winter Games and three FIS World Championships. During his time at Dartmouth, he won an individual NCAA slalom title and was runner up in the giant slalom in the same year.

Following his athletic career, Wall returned to his alma mater of Burke Mountain Academy, where he coached FIS boys from 2006-2009. He then headed back to Australia and assumed the role of alpine director for Ski and Snowboard Australia, which he held for seven years. He was the alpine performance manager for the Australian Olympic Committee at the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi during that time. Wall also led the Australian Team for three FIS World Ski Championships campaigns.

“SSCV is indeed fortunate to attract a person with Brad’s background and capabilities, and he is joining SSCV at an opportune time. The SSCV alpine program enjoys an incredible staff with extensive experience poised to jump to the next level,” stated Hale who takes on the reigns as SSCV executive director on May 1. “While much of what is happening within the alpine program is fantastic, areas of opportunity exist. Brad is a proven leader that will help the alpine team realize the incredible potential that lies ahead.”

“I am grateful for the opportunity to become part of the SSCV community and join this experienced coaching team,” said Wall. “I look forward to working closely with the athletes and their families to help them achieve their best.

“This is a great time to be part of SSCV,” he went on to say. “The Golden Peak expansion and investments in snowmaking and grooming have created a training environment second to none. I am excited to leverage these resources to help deliver world class programming for SSCV alpine athletes.”

Wall begins his tenure as SSCV alpine program director on May 3.
