With the goal of supporting the Ski Fast Foundation, a friend of Campbell Barrett Sullivan has started a fundraiser inspired by her passing.

After a four year battle with CIC-DUX4 sarcoma, Campbell Barrett Sullivan died in February after suffering a brain hemorrhage brought on by the rare form of cancer at the age of 19. While undergoing stem cell treatment for a rare cancer, Sullivan founded the Ski Fast Foundation for other children with sarcomas. The goal was simple: to assist and support pediatric cancer patients with sarcoma cancers by helping them return to the activities they love. After her passing, the Vail Ski & Snowboard Academy alumna continued to leave her legacy on her fellow teammates and ski racers across the country, including 20-year-old Tanner Perkins.

Perkins, the Aspen Valley Ski & Snowboard member, was a friend of Sullivan’s throughout her ski racing journey. After her passing, Perkins was inspired to do more for her mission in support of children diagnosed with cancer. Perkins will be running his first ultra marathon race on August 6, running 100 miles over 22,500 feet of elevation from Durango to Silverton, Colo. His goal is to raise $31,560 for the Ski Fast Foundation and is asking for supporters to donate to the foundation through his GoFundMe campaign.

“Something I really believe in is to serve and to help others,” said Perkins. “In the long run for me there is nothing that makes me feel better than helping someone else. That’s kinda what I promised myself that I was going to commit my life to.”

The Ski Fast Foundation strives to support children diagnosed with cancer through biannual scholarships and also donating money into CIC-DUX4 Sarcoma research in Campbell’s honor with hopes of one day finding a cure. Every year, 15,780 children are diagnosed with cancer. Perkins hopes to raise $2 per diagnosis in his fundraising campaign.

“Making a difference in someone’s life makes an even bigger difference in your own,” said Perkins. “I want to see this foundation grow and get better with money and support from the surrounding communities, and I can help spread the word about his foundation.”
