Where are the Europeans training this summer? Check out the article on FIS Alpine about how the Germans, French, Petra, etc. are training in year-round ski domes. And last year the US women tech racers used a European ski dome for training. Are any US racers training in ski domes this summer? How many U-12s or U-14s are on skis this summer?

Do ski domes offer an opportunity to increase the number of young skiers and maybe future ski racers by creating on-snow time in major metropolitan areas. And at the same time provide year-round training opportunities for US racers. Would summer camps at a nearby ski dome attract more young racers than Timberline? And at a much lower cost?

Is US Skiing working with the one existing ski dome in NJ to develop and subsidize intensive youth programs and racing clubs? Or working to partner with private developers to build domes in other metros?

Everyone says we need to increase the number of young skiers and the amount of on-snow time for junior skiers to develop their skills. Maybe we need to bring the snow to the kids. And support year-round training opportunities for aspiring racers.
