Alice Robinson Will Not Start in Killington

2019 Soelden World Cup winner Alice Robinson announced on Wednesday that she will sit out the next stop on the World Cup Tour later this month in Killington, Vermont.

The 17-year-old New Zealander disclosed in a social media post on Wednesday that she suffered a bone bruise following a training crash prior to the race in Soelden and has been advised by doctors to take time off.

“I thought everything was all good so continued to ski and obviously race,” she wrote on Instagram. “However we decided to get a scan when I got back home and it showed enough bone bruising that I’ve been advised by doctors that I need some time off to let it heal.”

Robinson says she will be focused on strength training and rehab at home in New Zealand and will aim for a return to the World Cup in December.

“It’s a hard pill to swallow seeing I’ve already been skiing on it and racing, but I’m going to listen to the experts and not put myself at risk of more damage,” she continued.

Robinson currently leads the hotly-contested women’s World Cup giant slalom standings over reigning crystal globe winner Mikaela Shiffrin. The next women’s World Cup GS after Killington is scheduled for December 17 in Courchevel, France.
