BREAKING: Pinturault Victorious in Bormio Combined

Frenchman Alexis Pinturault won the first alpine combined of the season on Sunday in Bormio, Italy, rebounding from a pair of less-than-stellar performances last weekend in nearby Alta Badia.

Pinturault injured his thigh in the Alta Badia parallel giant slalom and was unsure if he could compete in the days leading up to the race. His winning combined time of 2:32.56 seconds was good enough to get in front of Norway’s Aleksander Aamodt Kilde by 0.51 seconds in second place and Switzerland’s Loic Meillard in third, 0.56 seconds back.

Ryan Cochran-Siegle led the Americans with another strong finish, landing in fifth place. Bryce Bennett was the only other American finisher in 18th.
