For the second consecutive year, Switzerland’s Daniel Yule has won the Madonna di Campiglio slalom. Under the lights on Wednesday, the 26-year-old held on to the top position despite some big challenges from Henrik Kristoffersen and Clement Noel.

Noel skied the fastest second run of the day, over half a second faster than Yule, but his speed was not enough to overtake first place. He finished the day in third overall. Kristoffersen finished second, keeping him in the lead in the race for the slalom crystal globe.

The Swiss men had four athletes finish in the top 20, a strong showing for a team that typically has weak representation in the slalom.

The top Canadian performance for the night went to Erik Read, finishing just five hundredths outside the top 10 in 11th. American athletes Luke Winters and River Radamus did not qualify for second runs.
