The rehabilitation process of Italian star Cristof Innerhofer, who suffered a torn left ACL after a fall in the Italian National Championship super-G in March, has been continuing without setback. The 34-year old was transported to Innsbruck, Austria, immediately following his injury and was operated on by Dr. Christian Fink.

82 days post-operation, the 34-year-old South Tyrolean World Champion looks forward with confidence at the next steps he must take before he returns to the World Cup.

“I’m happy with the way things are going, the knee reacts well to the treatments,” Innerhofer said. “I am in a phase in which I can do more or less everything.”

With how well his recovery has been going, Innerhofer is aiming for a late-summer return to snow with hopes to be ready for the World Cup speed openers in Lake Louise, Canada in November.

“The goal is to return to the end of August or to the beginning of September,” he continued. “I finish the first rehabilitation block and now I will stay in Milan for a few days, then I will do a second work block in Germany where I spent a promising spring. I was relaxed in my head, I trained a lot because rehabilitation did not weigh at all on me, every day from 9am to 6pm, with a break of a couple of hours for lunch. I am aware that even from a technical point of view my skis are up-to-date, thanks to the tests carried out by my serviceman Ales Kalamar, who was also on the track in the last few days. When I am ready to ski, so will my skis.”
