Last week U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) President and CEO Tiger Shaw announced a partnership with Global Reach Sports (GRS). NASTAR Director Bill Madsen followed the partnership announcement with a message of his own to NASTAR racers that the USSA and GRS have agreed to join forces to provide NASTAR resorts and participants the quality level of service they have come to expect.

“I’ve spent the past 26 years promoting and developing the NASTAR program so that alpine racers and resorts across the country could be connected with a common scoring system. The partnership with GRS allows us to continue to encourage participation in our sport and to build a fan base for U.S. Ski Team athletes,” said Madsen.

With the partnership, NASTAR is providing a software-timing package to host resorts that is dependable along with an online results and rankings experience that is easy to navigate.

“I have seen young racers like Ted Ligety find success on the NASTAR course. That early recognition helped inspire him to train hard and achieve bigger goals. I am a firm believer in using NASTAR to cast a wider net to identify talent and to encourage participation in local ski clubs, race leagues and the NASTAR National Championships. Our goal is to provide participants with a world-class experience at every ability level; platinum, gold, silver or bronze,” continued Madsen.

NASTAR results and Race the Gates results recorded this winter are being merged and rankings now appear on the NASTAR.com website. Historic NASTAR results and rankings are also available online and participants can now login to their accounts to manage their records.

Participants who would like to compete in the National Championships in Steamboat but have not qualified may still race NASTAR to qualify up to an extended date of Feb. 22.

Racers who qualify for the NASTAR National Championships will see a National Championships logo in their record after Feb. 22. Anyone who received an invitation last year is automatically invited again this year. Racers can also submit a request for a discretionary entry with a link to their results to czarndt@ussa.org.
