HANOVER, N.H. — Briko USA announced the signing of U.S. Ski Team athletes Andrew Weibrecht and David Chodounsky to the Briko Team for ski helmets and goggles. These additions support a strong existing team consisting of Lindsey Vonn, Laurenne Ross, Alice McKennis, and Megan McJames as well as Michael Ankeny who had a breakout year in 2015 and finished his season as the slalom and overall NorAm Champion.

Two-time Olympic medalist Weibrecht is coming off a strong season with top-5 results in two World Cups and a ninth-place finish at the World Championships in Vail-Beaver Creek this past season. He was formerly a Briko team member at the beginning of his career and now rejoins the group after testing the new Vulcano FIS helmet and Lava 7.6 goggle.

Chodounsky’s rise through the ski racing ranks was on a slightly less conventional path –  first racing as a youngster at the famed Buck Hill in Minnesota, and at the age of 11 moving onto Crested Butte. From there, most others at the top level travel and either race independently or for the USST, but he went on to graduate from Dartmouth College, had great success competing at the NorAm level, and was named to the national team in 2009. He steadily climbed the tech ladder to a 21st in the world ranking in slalom. After a somewhat frustrating 2014-2015 season, he won the U.S. Nationals title at Sugarloaf in Maine and is ready for 2015-2016.

“I’m really excited to be joining Briko and to be back in the same helmet of my youth! Growing up, Briko was the hot gear everyone had. It’s great to see them coming back strong and with such positive energy. The comfortable fit and top-of-the-line quality provides me with the highest protection when pushing the limits on the race course … and with style!” Chodounsky exclaimed.

“We’re very psyched to have Andrew and David on Briko – they are great additions to our men’s team of Tommy Biesemeyer, U.S. National’s SG Champion Wiley Maple, and NorAm Champion Michael Ankeny. And the incredibly strong U.S. Briko women’s speed team of Vonn, Ross, McKennis, and McJames, ” said Briko USA’s Chris Clapp. “The Briko snow brand is growing nicely in the U.S. and these athletes and all USSA racers are the backbone of our company – I’m sure we’ll see many more WC and USSA podiums this coming season.”

Briko, which designs and manufacturers alpine ski helmets, goggles, and accessories worldwide, has sponsored many top alpine racers in the last 25 years and is excited to continue to focus on ski racing during its relaunch in the U.S. market.
