The South American Cup season has come to end after the speed series at El Colorado, Chile. Competition wrapped there with downhill and alpine combined races.

Noelle Barahona locked up the women’s overall title with a total of 666 points. The Chilean athlete had only one victory in the SAC season, winning a giant slalom in Chapelco, Argentina. However, her performances were consistent enough across all disciplines to finish things off 52 points ahead of Macarena Simari Birkner of Argentina. Winning the overall title secures World Cup starts for Barahona this coming season across all disciplines.

Serbian athlete Marko Vukicevik secured the men’s overall title with 513 points. Vukicevik formerly raced for Slovenia, but made the change to Serbia, his mother’s home country,  in 2012. He currently trains with Jack Gower of Great Britain and is coached by Thomas Vonn, Lindsey Vonn’s former coach and ex-husband, according to SkiOnline.ch.

“It is a great feeling, and I can hardly believe what I have achieved here,” Vukicevik told SkiOnline.ch. “In 2015 and 2016, I would never have dreamed that I could win here.”

Sebastiano Gastaldi of Argentina was the top South American, ranked second overall, with a total of 469 points. Gastaldi won three SAC races–two giant slaloms and one slalom–and secured World Cup starts for the coming season.

The top South American athletes in each discipline also secure World Cup starts in the respective discipline. Complete South American Cup rankings can be found here.
