Longtime USSA board member, Greg Boester, has been named president of the U. S. Ski and Snowboard Foundation following the resignation by John Cumming, the current president.

Cumming cited pressing business obligations as reason for his resignation as chairman, a move that surprised many as he had been very active and effective in the position. He will remain a member of the foundation’s trustees.

“(Cumming) will continue to help the foundation as he has in the past,” said Bill Marolt, President of USSA. “He has been invaluable in many ways, particularly in getting Copper Mountain under way.”

The ski team launched the Copper Mountain speed center two years ago, making it the world’s only full on early season speed training site.

Boester, currently managing director at Barclays Capital, has been a member the USSA corporate board since 1996 and joined the foundation in 2004. He was a member of the U. S. ski jumping team 1990 to 1994, having started jumping in Steamboat Springs. Boester was also a member of the 1994 Olympic team participating in the winter games at Lillehammer, Norway.

Eric Resnick was appointed to be vice present of the foundation.

“This is all part of a transition plan” said Marolt, who will be stepping down from his CEO position next spring. “We had a good transition period when I followed Jim McCarthy and Chuck (Ferries) took over the USSA chair and was succeeded by Dexter Paine. We want to have the same smooth change over in the future.”
