Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club announced that Caroline Lalive-Carmichael was selected as the new Alpine Competitive Program Director. After evaluating a large field of qualified candidates, the club believes that Lalive-Carmichael’s credentials and her long-standing tenure both in Steamboat Springs and with the SSWSC will serve it well as it continues to build upon and enhance a strong alpine program.

Lalive-Carmichael expressed interest in taking on a larger leadership role within the SSWSC. She has been with the SSWSC in various alpine coaching capacities since 2005, most recently serving as head coach of the U12 alpine program during the 2013-14 season. Her accomplishments in alpine ski racing are expansive, including being a thirteen year member of the U.S. Ski Team (1996-2009), and a 3-time Olympian (1998, 2002, 2006). Caroline is also a 4-time World Championships team member (1999, 2001, 2003, 2005) and a 3-time national champion (2001, 2002, 2005).

She replaces Deb Armstrong, who led the alpine program for the past five years but who decided to step down from the role for personal reasons, citing a desire to spend more time with her family. Armstrong, the 1984 Olympic giant slalom gold medalist, plans to continue working with the club in a less demanding capacity.
