This week, Stratton Mountain School (SMS) is hosting their High Performance Adventure Camp, which is designed for 10 to 16 year old alpine racers who are seeking a fun and productive summer training experience. The camp, which is in its second year, gives ski racing athletes the opportunity to train with SMS coaches to improve their strength, agility, and endurance in order to accelerate their skill development when they get on-snow.

Education about conditioning and a take-home program for training during the remainder of the summer and throughout the fall is an equally important part of the camp. In addition to the numerous training circuits performed on the SMS campus, the athletes have been enjoying a variety of outdoor activities and adventures off-campus including hiking Stratton Mountain, swimming in rivers, completing an aerial adventure course, zip-lining, downhill mountain biking, cliff jumping into a quarry, and utilizing the trampolines in SMS’s Air Awareness Center.

“This camp is an action-packed week of conditioning, games, and adventures in Stratton Mountain, Vermont,” said SMS Alpine Coach, Jim Sullivan. “It captures the many components of training young athletes for not only ski racing but also any athletic endeavor requiring strength, speed, and power. Most importantly, the kids have a blast while they get in better shape.”

SMS is a U.S. Ski & Snowboard certified High Performance Center. In addition to this week’s High Performance Camp, SMS offers a variety of other camps in the summer, including camps for Nordic training and Action Sports Camps for snowboarders and freestylers.
