For the first slalom races of the World Cup season, Switzerland will send four women and seven men to compete in Levi, Finland on Nov. 16-17. After holding qualifying heats, the women’s team was decided and will include Michelle Gisin, Denise Feierabend, Rahel Kopp (who skied her debut World Cup race in Soelden this year), and Wendy Holdener, who has fully recovered after breaking her arm in a scooter accident over the summer. Levi also marks a return to competition for Feieraband who suffered a complex knee injury and last competed in a World Cup race in Sochi, Russia in February of 2012.

Head men’s coach Walter Hlebayna and group manager Steve Locher selected the seven Swiss men who will compete in Levi, including veterans Markus Vogel and Marc Gini who will lead the team north of the Arctic Circle. They will be joined by the youngsters Luca Aerni, Justin Murisier, Reto Schmidiger, Daniel Yule and Ramon Zenhaeusern.

Before traveling to Finland, the men’s team trained in Zinal in their home country to put the finishing touches on their form for the race.
