PARK CITY, Utah – The 2014 U.S. Freestyle Ski Team’s aerials squad, led by Olympian Emily Cook and World Cup podium finisher Dylan Ferguson, was announced in advance of the first World Cup of the season Dec. 15 in Beida Lake, China. The World Cup will mark the return of Olympian Ashley Caldwell after back-to-back knee injuries.

“This being an Olympic year, it is amazing that the U.S. Aerials team is so large. We have such a diverse team from rookies to veterans, and I cant wait to see what our team will do this year!” exclaimed Ferguson. “I am sure our team will have many great results throughout the year but our main goal is to win as a team and have a blast doing it.”

The World Cup tour moves to the U.S. on Jan. 9-11 for the Visa Freestyle International at Utah’s Deer Valley Resort followed by the USANA Freestyle World Cup Jan. 15-18 in Lake Placid, NY, the final domestic stop before the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi. The Olympic team will be named in late January.

“I’m so excited to start the season with this amazing team. We are all really looking forward to the upcoming World Cups and the future is looking really bright. This is one of the deepest teams we have had in years and it’s really inspiring to be surrounded by so much talent and drive,” added Cook.

A total of 17 athletes have been named to the 2013-14 team. Beida Lake is the first event of the season for the aerials squad after months of training on both water and on snow at the Utah Olympic Park.

“I couldn’t be more excited for the season. Our entire team is prepared, healthy and ready to have an incredibly successful season,” noted Aerials Head Coach Todd Ossian. “The Olympic Year is always the most exciting of the four-year cycle. The U.S. Aerials Team is jumping extremely well and we are in a position to have a lot of success this year. As a team, we’ll focus on the process more than the outcome, but it always feels awesome to head into the Olympics knowing that you are ready, that you’ve done everything you could possibly do to prepare and that you have a team that’s ready to produce podium results on the world stage.”
