PARK CITY, Utah – On Feb. 14, the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) will celebrate its second annual USSA National Club Day, recognizing over 400 ski and snowboard clubs across the nation. National Club Day recognizes all clubs for the important role they play in sport development and helps clubs gain exposure and support on the local level.

“Last year our first annual National Club Day featured a parade of clubs from Vermont to Alaska and was a huge success,” said USSA Club Development Manager Brian Krill. “Through National Club Day we are helping to build our club’s as communities by generating exposure, excitement and recognition. This will better connect USSA clubs, their members, parents and fans with USSA, other clubs, the national teams, and the sports.”

As part of the event, the USSA is hosting an “I Love My Club” social media competition. National team members, athletes, parents, coaches, former coaches, alumni or community members can link photos, words or videos to #ILoveMyClub, recognizing the role a USSA club has played in their lives and successes. The most popular posts will win an official Sochi Olympic cowbell signed by an Olympic athlete for the individual who posted and for their club.

In addition to the #ILoveMyClub social media competition, there are 45 events being hosted in 16 states from entry level to the Alpine World Championships in Vail-Beaver Creek. This includes events sanctioned by the United States of America Snowboard and Freeski Association (USASA), with whom USSA partners for youth snowboarding and freeskiing development. USSA clubs and partner resorts host these events providing competition in cross country skiing and ski jumping, alpine ski racing, snowboarding, freestyle skiing, and freeskiing for thousands of young athletes. USSA club members will also gather at the 2015 FIS Alpine World Championships to cheer for the U.S. Ski Team athletes – their hometown heroes, and represent clubs nationwide.

“Passion for our sports and dreams to compete on a world stage are fostered at USSA clubs,” said USSA President and CEO Tiger Shaw. “These clubs train, educate and inspire athletes on a daily basis and are the key to supporting our Best in the World vision.”
