The Norwegian was injured during a downhill training fall on Wednesday and will return to Innsbruck for further medical examinations.
Aleksander Aamodt Kilde tore his Achilles tendon in a fall during downhill training in Chile on Wednesday, the Norwegian Ski Federation announced Thursday.
Kilde will return to Innsbruck, Austria, where his regular medical team will conduct further examinations and assess treatment options. The federation said it will provide another update when more information is available.
Another setback in Kilde’s return
The injury interrupts Kilde’s efforts to resume his career after a serious crash in the Wengen downhill in January 2024. He sustained major injuries to his lower leg and shoulder and missed the rest of that season and the entire 2024-25 campaign. He returned to World Cup racing in November 2025, then withdrew from the 2026 Winter Olympics as he continued his recovery.
The federation did not provide a timeline for treatment or a possible return to skiing.
