Mario Matt questionable for World Championship slalom

Olympic slalom champion Mario Matt of Austria was injured in training on Monday in Aspen, Colo., while preparing for the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in nearby Beaver Creek.  Matt injured his right ankle in a fall and is questionable for the championship slalom event. 

Matt was evaluated at Aspen Valley Hospital and was diagnosed with a severe bruise of the ankle. According to Austrian team doctor Thomas Gstrein, Matt now requires a 3-day break from training. Whether the Olympic champion from Sochi will start in the 2015 World Championship slalom on Sunday will be determined on Saturday, just one day prior to the race.
