Rebensburg joins iconic group of chocolate lovers
One month from now, World Cup athletes will swarm Soelden and many will be showing off new sponsors and representing new ski companies. German skier and Olympic gold medalist, Viktoria Rebensburg, will be among them with a tasty new head sponsor, Milka.
“Shortly before the beginning of the season, I have great news!” she shared on her Facebook page. “From now on, I’m racing with the purple Milka helmet. The Milka brand has been around since my childhood, and I have many positive memories with it.”
Rebensburg will race alongside fellow Milka Ski Stars this season including 2016 World Cup giant slalom globe winner, Michaela Kirchgasser, and Italian skier, Elena Curtoni. Also amongst the Milka Ski Stars are two athletes who have left fans wondering if and when they’ll see them back on the World Cup circuit.
There is uncertainty as to whether or not fans will get to watch Anna Veith – formerly Fenninger – race in Soelden as she recovers from injury. In addition, Slovenian athlete Tina Maze, who took a year off from the circuit, has also left fans wondering if she’ll make a comeback. According to FantaSki, she has a press conference scheduled on Oct. 20 in Austria, so perhaps fans will have to wait until the last minute to find out if she’ll be pushing out the start gate again.
