Minimum Qualifications 

● 3+ years of applicable development experience. 

● Proven track record of generating income for their organization.

● Experience in the solicitation of major gifts. 

● Experience in the development and execution of a multi-faceted development plan. 

● Experience in writing successful grant applications. 

● Experience in managing fundraising events. 

● Leadership qualities and the ability to manage a team. 

● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 

● Highly skilled with Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge or similar database.

● Flexibility and willingness to travel, including some weekends. 

● A passion for snow sports, New England, and independent secondary education. 

Job Summary 

Carrabassett Valley Academy (CVA), a world-class ski and snowboard academy with rigorous college preparatory academics, seeks a Director of Development to lead and grow all of the school’s development-related activities. The Director of Development is an integral part of the school’s senior leadership team and reports directly to the Head of School. Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

● Lead strategic planning for the school’s development efforts. 

● Lead and grow a successful annual giving program (approximately $440,000 annually). 

● Plan and lead the successful completion of the school’s upcoming capital campaign. 

● Serve as the school’s primary major gift officer. 

● Build and maintain productive relationships with all key prospects and donors.

● Increase alumni/parent engagement and giving participation. 

● Manage and mentor direct reports.
