Cook fourth in final Lake Louise training; Mancuso seventh, as Vonn takes day off

After three day’s of training in Lake Louise, the ladies should be well-prepared for the weekend of racing in Alberta.

Lindsey Vonn, who on Wednesday led the splits but stood up before the finish to take ninth, did not race in the cloudy final day of training Thursday. For the other racers, the flat light and dusting of snow was seen as good practice in preparation for variable conditions they might experience this weekend.

It certainly didn’t bother Marion Rolland of France, who once again took the win in today’s training run. Daniela Merighetti and Anna Fenninger rounded out the top three.

Stacey Cook continued her strong skiing, managing the fourth best run of the day. And Julia Mancuso had her best training run of the week. She finished seventh.

Regina Sterz who has had consistently fast times is happy with the preparation of the track. “The track is very good. The slope is not bumpy but the snow is everyday different. Yesterday was more aggressive than today and today I think that it’s more difficult to get the right feeling.”
