SQUAW VALLEY, Calif.  — Two-time Olympian Megan McJames capped an outstanding week of Nature Valley U.S. Alpine Championships racing with the FIS giant slalom win at Squaw Valley on Sunday (March 23). Under deep blue California skies, McJames won both runs to build up a 1.58-second victory over fellow Olympian Resi Stiegler, who narrowly missed the U.S. Championships slalom win just a day before.

“I think Squaw did a really good job with the hill here. After the first GS we had here I was really excited to try it again, because it’s challenging and I wanted to ski my best GS on a hard hill because it would feed my confidence,” said McJames. “For me, Sochi was so cool. I was kind of a long shot, being an independent racer, so I was really happy to be there. But I think it took so much energy to get there that I’ve been a little bit low. So just to be on top of the podium one more time is really cool and it can motivate me to keep working hard this summer.”

Anna Marno rounded out the top three, and Squaw Valley Ski Team alumna and U.S. development team member Foreste Peterson took top honors for juniors in fourth. Various members of the U.S. Ski Team now head to Beaver Creek, Colo., site of the 2015 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships, for a training camp, already in preparation for next year’s racing.
