Mancuso falls while training, takes break from snow

American ski racing star Julia Mancuso took a fall while downhill training Thursday in Mammoth, Calif.

“Just nine stitches, but crashing in DH is never fun,” Mancuso posted to her fan Facebook page. “Gonna take a long break now! Back on skis in July.”

The three-time Olympic medalist fell after going off a jump. Her ski came off and cut her left arm just above the elbow. The Squaw Valley native called the injury a “flesh wound” and reported no other injuries.

She will resume her conditioning training at her summer home in Maui, Hawaii before returning to on-snow work in July.
