Goergl sticks with Head skis through 2014

May 16, 2011

Austrian double world champion Elisabeth Goergl has signed a deal to remain in Head equipment (skis, boots and bindings) through the 2014 Olympic Games.

Last seasons, Goergl won World Championships gold medals in both the downhill and super G in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany. She also secured six top-three finishes on the World Cup circuit as part of the dominant Head team, which includes: Lindsey Vonn, Maria Riesch, Ted Ligety and Didier Cuche.

“I am not looking for any more experiments in my career,” said the 30-year-old racer. “I fully trust in my equipment and the whole team working with me. Of course I want to further attack in the World Cup and I have to defend a lot at the World Championships 2013 in Schladming. One year later the Winter Games in Sochi will be coming up. To be successful I need the fastest skis I can get – and I already have them.”

“Lizz is very professional. Considering her abilities it’s obvious that she will be one of the candidates for winning the Overall World Cup next season,” said HEAD-Race director Rainer Salzgeber. “Having an outlook on the upcoming World Championships at her home site she will be a great testimonial as well. We are very happy that Lizz has decided to stay with our team and that we’ll be able to continue this successful cooperation.”
