The 2024/2025 season began with thrilling races in Chile at the first Visa Chile Winter Series Ford winter sports circuit. Held on the slopes of El Colorado, the event featured over 97 competitors from 17 countries. The great snow, spectacular sunshine, and a high-level race venue designed by the respected and experienced Chilean team coach Sebastián Cartes created the perfect setting for the international competitors.
These races marked the global start of the International Ski Federation (FIS) calendar for the 2024/2025 season. Among the women, Britain’s Giselle Gorringe dominated, winning both competitions. Thomas Mennen from the USA and Andorra’s Marc Fernandez Paez secured victories for the men. Chilean athletes also shone, with the Holscher brothers, Diego and Kay, taking third place in their respective races. Their younger brother, Tomas Holscher, excelled in the junior category. Chilean skier Matilde Pinilla also performed impressively among the women.
Starting in El Colorado, the circuit will conclude in October at Corralco Ski Resort. It features five Olympic disciplines, with over 600 athletes from more than 30 countries expected to participate. Athletes are earning valuable FIS points.
Upcoming Events:
- La Parva Grand Prix: The next event on the calendar is the La Parva Grand Prix, where the best Alpine Ski athletes in the world will gather for a week of speed competitions on a challenging course named “Barros Negro.”
