In the latest episode of the Skiing is Believing podcast, Alan and Matt had the privilege to welcome not one but two Global Racing giant slalom specialists, Christian Borgnaes and Patrick Kenney.
They began by exploring the journeys that Christian and Patrick undertook to reach the top, highlighting how their distinct experiences showcase the various career paths within Global Racing.
Christian followed the traditional Austrian path in his pursuit of a position on the National Team. He then spent a season with Global Racing before returning to the National Team. In May 2022, he switched his nationality to Denmark, his father’s homeland, and returned back to Global Racing.
Patrick conventionally came through the American system, having raced consistently throughout his time at university. In January 2021, he made the transition to Global Racing, inspired by the successful groundwork Paul Epstein started years before.
Also discussed was how both racers feel they can do on the 2024/25 FIS World Cup Giant Slalom circuit. Christian is looking to improve on his personal best of 14th from Adelboden, while Patrick aims to build on his first World Cup points score, where he achieved 24th place in Palisades Tahoe.
Heading into Sölden this weekend, the boys both emphasize their will to hit the ground running and the fire in the belly they have to get the season underway.
In the rapid-fire segment, Matt inquired about the standout feature of Global Racing from Christian and Patrick, eliciting several enthusiastic responses. They were also eager to highlight their objectives for the season during this portion of the interview.
Please let Alan and Matt know what you thought of this episode in addition to any of our episodes throughout the last year. We really appreciate any feedback we can get.
