In the latest episode of the Skiing is Believing podcast, Alan Rigg and Matt Garcka had the opportunity to chat with the Canadian slalom specialist, Amelia Smart.

With the close of Smart’s World Cup season, she shared the overall impressions of her season and how it has compared with her goals and intentions set at the beginning of the 24/25 season. While she is unlikely to qualify for the Sun Valley World Cup Finals later this month, Smart intends to finish with a strong result in Sunday’s World Cup slalom in Åre.

In the conversation, Matt also took Amelia back to her first involvement with ski racing on the slopes of British Columbia. The same province where she scored her two NorAm Cup wins in December. Smart also told the podcast about her end-of-the-season goals and whether or not she will ski the Nor-Am Cup finals later this month.

Smart also discussed the current Alpine Canada Alpin team. She highlighted Laurence St-Germain, the 2023 World Cup Slalom Champion, and Ali Nullmeyer, who has climbed back up the leaderboard this season. Smart is accustomed to this kind of team environment, having won three NCAA titles while competing for the University of Denver.

Further, Amelia shared her positive experiences on the Atomic skis over the last eight years. She discussed a couple of tweaks and changes she made during this season and described how the training sessions went while testing the new Redster skis.
