The Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club (SSWSC) is seeking a Director of Development to lead and expand its fundraising and donor engagement efforts. Based in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, this full-time, year-round role is a key leadership position within one of North America’s most storied winter sports organizations.

SSWSC supports more than 1,200 athletes annually and has produced 108 Olympians and 22 Olympic medals. The organization has been named U.S. Ski & Snowboard Club of the Year five times.

Position Overview
The Director of Development will lead all fundraising strategy, campaigns, and events, while building on SSWSC’s strong legacy of donor support. This role focuses on both sustaining existing relationships and expanding outreach to new donors, partners, and funding opportunities.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Development works closely with the SSWSC Foundation Board and senior leadership team to execute comprehensive development initiatives aligned with the club’s long-term vision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy, including Annual Fund, Scholarship Fund, Endowment Fund, and capital campaigns
  • Plan and oversee fundraising events, donor engagement initiatives, and recognition programs
  • Lead major gift and planned giving efforts, including cultivating relationships with high-net-worth donors
  • Collaborate with internal teams on communications, marketing, and CRM strategy (NEON ONE platform)
  • Identify and pursue new revenue streams, including grants, sponsorships, and innovative funding opportunities
  • Provide regular reporting and strategic recommendations to leadership and board members
  • Oversee donor stewardship, acknowledgements, and long-term engagement strategies
  • Support development of alumni engagement initiatives and database management
  • Partner with leadership to ensure alignment across all development and organizational goals

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising or development
  • Proven success in executing fundraising strategies and meeting revenue targets
  • Strong relationship-building skills across diverse donor groups
  • Experience with CRM systems and data-driven development strategies
  • Excellent communication skills, including writing and public speaking
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work across teams and stakeholders

Position Details:

  • Compensation: $90,000 – $110,000
  • Location: Steamboat Springs, Colorado (in-person with some flexibility)
