SYNC Performance is seeking a Director of Product to lead the end-to-end development of high-performance technical apparel and equipment. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives at the intersection of design, engineering, and manufacturing—and is passionate about building products for elite performance environments.

About the Role

The Director of Product owns the full product lifecycle—from initial concept and design through development, factory execution, production, and post-launch evaluation. You’ll work directly with global factories, vendors, and internal teams to ensure every product meets SYNC’s standards for performance, cost, and delivery.

Reporting to the Leadership Team, this role plays a critical part in aligning product decisions with long-term brand strategy, operational realities, and business goals.

Key Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Line Planning

  • Own seasonal and long-range product line plans aligned with brand vision and financial targets
  • Define product architecture, SKU strategy, and roadmap priorities
  • Develop clear product briefs outlining function, target consumer, pricing, and timelines
  • Balance innovation with operational feasibility and cost discipline

Product Design & Inception

  • Translate product strategy into concepts, including materials, silhouettes, and features
  • Contribute to or lead technical design decisions such as construction and trims
  • Ensure early concepts translate effectively into manufacturable products
  • Analyze competitive products and emerging technologies

Product Development & Execution

  • Lead development from first prototype through production approval
  • Work directly with factories on fit, patterning, materials, and construction
  • Manage sample reviews, testing, and iteration timelines
  • Approve final specs, BOMs, and costing prior to production
  • Ensure all products meet performance and durability standards

Factory & Vendor Management

  • Serve as the primary product contact for manufacturing partners
  • Collaborate with factories to solve design, cost, and timeline challenges
  • Align product decisions with factory capabilities and capacity
  • Support sourcing decisions for materials and trims

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Operations on timelines, logistics, and inventory planning
  • Work with Marketing and Sales to communicate product stories and features
  • Support go-to-market readiness and delivery forecasting
  • Contribute to leadership reporting and OKRs

Process & Continuous Improvement

  • Build and refine product development systems and workflows
  • Establish clear milestone tracking from concept to delivery
  • Identify opportunities to improve speed, quality, and cost efficiency
  • Document processes and best practices for scalability

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in technical product development
  • Background in performance apparel, outdoor, or technical consumer goods preferred
  • Strong knowledge of materials, fit, construction, and manufacturing processes
  • Experience working directly with factories and vendors
  • High attention to detail with strong prioritization and decision-making skills
  • Ability to balance creative vision with operational and financial constraints
  • Strong communication skills and comfort in fast-paced environments
  • Proficiency with product development tools and collaborative software

  • Location: Remote
  • Compensation: $90,000–$120,000 USD
