About Whistler Mountain Ski Club
Founded in 1968, the Whistler Mountain Ski Club (WMSC) develops champions in life and sport. We deliver year-round alpine ski racing programs for nearly 250 athletes, from U10 through FIS and Masters. Based in one of the world’s premier ski destinations, we play a central role in Canada’s high-performance alpine pipeline.
Our athletes train and compete at every level—from grassroots to elite international racing—and our alumni include Olympians and World Cup competitors. WMSC also hosts major events, including the Whistler Cup, one of the world’s leading international youth alpine races, attracting over 650 athletes and coaches from 20+ nations annually.

The Opportunity
WMSC seeks a dynamic Executive Director (ED) to lead one of North America’s premier alpine ski racing programs. This role combines high-performance sport leadership with full organizational accountability.
The Executive Director drives strategy, operations, athlete development, and financial performance across all programs. You will shape the athlete pathway, lead a world-class coaching team, and build strong relationships with athletes, families, partners, and the Board.
This role suits a proven leader with deep alpine expertise and credibility and demonstrated the ability to run a complex organization—someone who thrives in a high-performance environment where decisions directly impact athletes and community outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Define and execute the Club’s strategic direction
- Develop annual and long-term plans and secure Board approval
- Lead budget planning and financial oversight
- Report regularly to the Board on performance and progress
- Strengthen Board relationships and governance practices
Athletics & Program Development
- Oversee all athlete programs (U10–FIS and Masters)
- Lead and mentor coaching staff and technical teams
- Ensure alignment with Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) principles
- Monitor athlete and program performance against measurable goals
- Drive innovation in training, conditioning, and performance systems
- Maintain active on-hill presence and program oversight
Operations & Events
- Manage all club operations and staff
- Oversee major events, including the Whistler Cup
- Support race organizing committees and ensure best practices
- Contribute to management of the Dave Murray National Training Centre
- Build and strengthen volunteer engagement and capacity
Marketing, Sponsorship & Partnerships
- Secure and grow corporate sponsorships and fundraising revenue
- Promote WMSC programs to attract athletes and members
- Represent WMSC with key stakeholders, including: Whistler Blackcomb, BC Alpine, Alpine Canada, FIS and national sport organizations, and partner clubs and sponsors
Administration & Governance
- Develop and implement policies and procedures
- Oversee financial controls, grants, and donations
- Lead hiring, contracts, and performance management for all staff
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and legislation
- Manage office operations and external service providers
Qualifications
We are looking for a senior alpine leader with a proven track record in both high-performance sport and organizational leadership.
Required Experience & Skills:
- Canadian Level 4 Coaching Certification (or international equivalent)
- National and internation experience, with experience at Nor-Am, Europa Cup, or higher levels
- Understanding of the Canadian alpine ski racing system
- Proven success in athlete and coach development at elite levels
- Minimum 5+ years in a senior leadership role in alpine sport
- Experience managing large teams (40+ staff)
- Experience managing budgets of $3M+
- Strong marketing, sponsorship, and fundraising experience
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Experience working with Boards, stakeholders, and governing bodies
- Undergraduate degree
