Italy’s Denise Karbon out for at least six months{mosimage}Italy’s Denise Karbon suffered a knee ligament injury while training in South America late last month. She has already had one operation, and is looking at another within a couple of weeks.

“My season has finished before it has begun,” Karbon told Reuters. “Within a fortnight, I will undergo another operation, and in cases like this you are looking at five to six months to recover, and in effect I’m not going to be ready until next spring,” said the 24-year-old. “I just have to focus on getting ready for the following season,” Karbon concluded.

The injury is especially disappointing for Karbon-who finished second in the giant slalom World Cup standings last season-as the 2005 World Championships will be held on home turf in Bormio, Italy, in February.
