CRANS MONTANA, Switzerland — Fresh snow amounting to 25 centimeters in conjunction with a soft base below in the lower section of the course gave the jury no choice but to cancel today’s second downhill training run for the World Cup ladies in Switzerland.

“There is simply no chance to run a training today,” said the FIS race director. “We need to work on the slope throughout the day. The problem is that we expect some more snow during the night and even tomorrow morning.”

The downhill race is still scheduled for 10:15 a.m. local time Saturday.
