Elijah Teter hospitalized after crash
Elijah Teter hospitalized after crash{mosimage}Elijah Teter, a member of the U.S. Snowboard Team and brother of snowboard A team rider Hannah Teter, is recovering from serious injuries sustained at Whistler, British Columbia, last week.
According to Teter’s older brother Amen, “Elijah was heli-vaced from Whistler last Sunday afternoon [Nov. 12] after crashing into a field of rocks at high speed. He misjudged the snowcover of a rock he was trying to jump off of, which flipped him over on his back and into a few boulders on the other side of the rock field.”
Amen pointed out that Elijah was wearing his helmet and the ski patrol and first-aid staff onsite responded quickly and effectively.
“[They] managed to chopper him out quickly and save his life by drilling holes in his chest to drain the blood and fluid that was quickly mounting inside,” Amen said. The doctors at the Lions Gate hospital in North Vancouver said Teter has many internal lacerations and still a small amount of bleeding in his lungs, but that he is recovering well. He’s reportedly conscious and in good spirits.
