“It felt slower today because of the new snow. The conditions are very good and similar to previous seasons,” Buder said.
Austrian Fritz Strobl, fourth, said, “I need many runs to get the feeling of a course. I don’t feel a lot of pressure to defend my victory here last year. I know I can ski fast here.”
Yannick Bertrand of France skied to sixth and said, “Today there were significant changes in temperature. At the start it was nice and warm with lots of visibility and closer to the bottom it became cloudy and snowy.”
Canadian Erik Guay was 18th Friday. “On race day we have to deal with all kinds of conditions. I’ll take whatever comes,” Guay said.
“We have internal competition on our team and you need to have a team to push each other in training. You are on your own on race day but our team is out to beat everyone on race day.”
