WINTER PARK, Colorado — Jessica Kelley produced the fastest first run and turned it into her second Chevrolet Super Series giant slalom victory in 24 hours Friday while Resi Stiegler had the fastest second run and finished runner-up. Megan McJames made it three U.S. women in the top five, finishing fifth.
Kelley had a two-run time of 2 minutes, 7.17 seconds while Stiegler charged through steady snowfall in the second run and finished in 2:08.01. McJames was timed in 2:08.62.
"It blows me away the way Jess is skiing GS right now," SL/GS head coach Chris Knight said. "Y'know, when you're that confident, you can get away with things and still be fast. She led the first run and then we had terrible conditions for the second run … just dumping, some holes on the course, some holds to repair things, people crashing and re-dye of the course.
"And then Resi was charging, and she came in second. Megan skied well here last year and she's such a talent … she can be so super. It's fun to watch them come along."
The Super Series represents the U.S. races within the NorAm schedule.
