Fantasy Report – Week Three Final

It was an eventful week for Fantasy Skiing. There were a ton of races between Lake Louise (3) and Beaver Creek (4) and some great skiing from individuals (Kildow for example). With the youth of the season there was quite a lot of movement up and down the standings lists and that always spurs some trash-talk.

Let’s get to it: Smoking Mirrors got strong double up scoring from Kildow in downhill (1&2)  and from both overall positions with Rainer Schoenfelder getting a third and Andreas Fischbacher notching two fifths for a big ole 362 point total, easily enough to take down Ranger Rick and vault to the top of the Stenmark Division.
Interosseous Membrane moved to the top of the Moser-Proell Division with Renate Goetschl and Mario Scheiber in the overall positions, the former notching 195 and the latter 43. The competition for the week was weak as Birds of Pray fluttered in at 53 And will no doubt be scanning the waiver wire.
The Hammers got a nice win over Team PMS, after the latter dropped Goetschl from the DH position, Rand Corporation hit big with Ted Ligety in GS and has the always reliable Nicole Hosp with a three race scoring push in overall to put down the Le(a)derhosen who could not break double digits.
The Dumpster Divers overpowered the Slammer’s with Bode Miller, with Peter Fill in DH and Thomas Grandi in SL. Slammer’s countered with Blardone’s GS win, but it was too little, too late.
In the rest of the Moser Division The Ribbons, anchored with Svindal’s 198 overall points had no problem dispatching The Black, despite a four position contribution and a triple race score from Nadia Styger. The Hardcore toasted the Destroyers thanks to Anja Paerson totaling 106 in three races and Fill bringing in 100 in two races. Destroyers luck seems to have leveled out at floor height mustering a total of 29 points from four competitors. White Circus Watch needed even less to top the Commandos total of 24, but got so much more.  Of course you don’t need a lot more when you have Kildow in the overall position in a week when she goes 2-1-2. That brought in 260, plus a three-race push from Didier Defago and nothing more was needed.

Forum League

Get ready for some trash talkin’ on the SR Forum as Kashalot controls the top of the standings and with a perfect 3-0 record. Hope to see the Skibum chatting it up a bit about an outrageous 450pt total as well and take a close look at the Sbtski/Cave match-up. 330 to 328 wow. Hate to be on the short end of that.
Skibums monster total came mostly rom Kildow in an overall position (260 alone) but the bums also hit Blardone’s win in the GS. Kashalot posted Miller in the DH and Ligety collected 86 in an overall. Extremeskier’s scoring page was busy as both overall positions and the DH slot scored twice over the week with Schild, Palander and Goetschl respectively. That was more than enough to send the TriAlumni scampering home.
The huge battle was that 330-328 match-up. Sbtski notched 212 from Svindal and a four race score (including a win) from one position. Consider that DeWitt Cave got zero from its top overall slot as Kathrin Zettel did not compete in the speed only weekend. They did counter slightly with Walchhofer in an overall slot, but the main ground was made up with Kildow in the DH position and a buck-eighty. Grandi chipped in 45 in slalom and Simoncelli another 40 in GS but still the Cave fell short when Kildow punched in that final SG score and added another podium to the Sbtski total. What a battle.

Transactions:

Birds of Pray 11/27 drops Aamodt from overall, replacing with John Kucera

Ribbons 11/26 drops Kirsten Clark DH replacing with Steven Nyman

Sammy Slammers 11/27 drops Rienda from overall replacing with Francois Bourque

Team PMS 11/27 drops Goetschl DH, replacing with Hosp.

Okay gang, I expect to see some waive wire work here forced on us by the scheduled misques. Keep an eye in the forum for roster moves. Someone is likely to drop an athlete they don’t want do just to be able to play this week. Make roster moves by emailing hmckee@skiracing.com and again thanks for playing. Sorry on the delay posting this week… I plead the airline clause.

And now… The data:
