OBERHOFEN, Switzerland — The men’s World Cup races in the Austrian resort of Kitzbühel will go ahead as planned next week.
The International Ski Federation on Thursday confirmed that the classic Hahnenkamm races, which had been in doubt due to lack of snow, will take place as scheduled Jan. 26-28.
The program includes a super G, followed by the famous Streif downhill and a slalom on Sunday. The downhill and the slalom together make up the traditional combined race, which is scored separately.
A lack of snow throughout much of Europe has caused numerous scheduling changes in the men’s and women’s World Cup this season.
Kitzbühel organizers announced plans last week to ship in natural snow so the races can take place. The events were in danger of being moved to St. Moritz, Switzerland.
