Are: Super combi could shift to SG, SL

ARE, Sweden — The format of the super combined race at the World Championships could be changed if the poor weather continues.
The super combi consists of a downhill leg and a single slalom run. However, it could be switched to a rarer version comprising a super G leg and a slalom.
For safety reasons, at least one official practice is required before any downhill racing, but not for super G.
The men's and women's super G races are both rescheduled for Tuesday, after bad weather prevented any racing for the first three days of the competition.
Organizers are looking to simplify the program and the new format would eliminate the need for downhill training runs.
Men's and women's downhill training is slated for Wednesday, but more bad weather could wipe those out, too.
Switching a downhill leg for a super G run in the combi could still pose problems, too, FIS race director Guenter Hujara said.
Not everyone entered in the combi race brought their super G skis. Those racing the combined but who did not have a berth in the super G race would have brought only their downhill and slalom skis
Austria head coach Toni Giger asked for a quick decision so racers like Benjamin Raich, Rainer Schoenfelder and Mario Matt could ship the proper skis over in time.
