Colby-Sawyer names Lashar head alpine coach

Garrett M. Lashar has been named the head alpine coach at Colby-Sawyer College.

GARRETT M. LASHAR has been named the head alpine coach at Colby-Sawyer College. Lashar, who will begin his new job Aug. 16, comes to the school after spending last season as the FIS men's alpine coach at Carrabassett Valley Academy in Carrabassett, Maine.
Lashar replaces Danny Noyes, who left the college to accept a job with his alma mater, Colby College in Waterville, Maine.
“Coach Lashar brings a tremendous amount of energy and expertise to our nationally ranked alpine ski program,” said Colby-Sawyer Athletic Director Debi Field-McGrath. “I am pleased and excited that he will be directing the program and providing a top quality experience for our student-athletes."
“I am very excited to join the Colby-Sawyer community and lead such an elite ski program,” Lashar said.
Lashar has spent the past several years at Carrabassett Valley Academy in several different roles with both the men and women’s alpine programs. He also was previously a member of the National Development System coach staff in 2006.
Before his work at the academy, Lashar was a four-year racer at Plymouth State College (2000-04) in New Hampshire. Lashar was a team captain for his junior and senior seasons and helped lead the Panthers to a second-place finish at the 2004 U.S. Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association (USCSSA) National Championships, just ahead of Colby-Sawyer.
