Sun Valley Ski Tools scholarships open to racers

    Ski racing is an expensive sport, and how a large chunk of that expense comes from equipment needs. To be the best, you need to have the best possible equipment every day. SVST understands this need and wants to play a part. Earning this prestigious scholarship will take away a lot of that burden of cost and give the deserving winners a chance to be their best.

Scholarship history
This scholarship has been in existence since 2000. A SVST Competition Team was selected with five alpine athletes, all of whom have gone on to make the U.S. Ski Team: Stacey Cook, Marco Sullivan, Dane Spencer, Erik Fischer and Hailey Duke. The team was not selected by skiing skills, it was selected on personality, desire and attitude, which are the three major criteria for the upcoming application process. All the athletes originally selected were able to utilize the resources given to them to make it to an elite level, while having fun.

A message from Stacey Cook

To all applicants:

This scholarship is very near and dear to my heart, and I am very excited to be able to give everyone a chance to have something that meant so much to me as a junior. Having this amazing support from such a big company in the skiing world really helped to carry me through the ranks and onto the national team. I feel very confident that I would not have made it to the ski team without SVST being part of my support system. That is how big this was to me.
    I encourage all applicants to do your research about SVST and really know the company that you are going to be applying to. That is part of dealing with any sponsor — you don’t want to go in blind. Also, fill out the application as honestly as possible. I will be the one reading the applications, and picking the eventual winners that I feel is important to find the applicants with the qualities we are looking for. Being a past member of the SVST Competition Team, I feel the need to keep the values that the team was originally built on.
    I know you all are busy with school, but again I want to express how valuable this opportunity is. I will keep the application as simple as possible to allow you finish that essay you are working on! Take the time to fill it out completely and to the best of your ability. There are a couple other requests for the application and scholarships to read through it all.
