Add Swiss racer Sandra Gini to the list of those sustaining injury at the Aspen races. Gini’s injury was determined to be a torn ACL after examination at the Swiss Olympic Medical Center at the Clinic Hirslanden according to the Swiss Team.
Gini had only recently returned to action after suffering a right knee injury in July. The torn Cruciate ligament to the left knee occured during the Aspen slalom Nov . 29. She will not race again this season.
No determination has yet been made regarding surgery.
Italian Denise Karbon sustained a meniscus tear to her right knee in the GS at Aspen and Austrian Alexandra Daum sustained what turned out to be a meniscus tear of her right knee and a hairline crack of the tibia. Where it had initially been thought she might miss the entire season, the Austrian Ski Team is now expecting her to return to snow in 10 to 12 weeks.
