Down Time Episode 8: Image is everything/One step closer

Julia Mancuso's exploits on the race hill have made her a star in Europe, but her family and friends still remember the Olympic gold medalist as a young girl who liked to sing and dance. Julia's coaches all agree that she has unique talent and a fierce competitiveness, but they acknowledge her private side. "I've been coaching her four years now and I feel as though I'm still getting to know her," said U.S. tech coach Chris Knight. Head coach Patrick Riml says Mancuso has a true appreciation for those who have helped her rise toward the top of the sport, from coaches to techs and teammates and everyone in between.
Resi Stiegler came close to winning last season on the World Cup but fell just short. But two national titles in Alaska to close out last season really sparked a new confidence. "She needs to win to feel what it's like. You need to know how it is to win, to be on top of the podium," Riml says of Stiegler.
