Bormio: Second training run for women cancelled

Mar 11, 2008

BORMIO, Italy — Officials were forced to cancel the second training run for the World Cup Finals women’s downhill because of overnight snow, morning fog and generally soft conditions. Organizers still hoped to get in a downhill training run for the men at 12:45 p.m., weather and slope conditions permitting. A jury decision was expected at noon local time.

The men’s and women’s downhill finals are both on the schedule for March 12 in Bormio. American skier Lindsay Vonn has clinched the women’s downhill globe, and Didier Cuche of Switzerland leads America’s Bode Miller by five points in the men’s race.
