U.S. Nationals: Aggressive schedule set
The schedule for the U.S. National Alpine Championships has begun to shape up. After the successful completion of the slaloms Saturday, and with good weather in the forecast for Sunday, race officials announced an aggressive schedule for the next two days of the competition.
"Our intent is to maintain the championship schedule," said U.S. Competition Director Walt Evans, " and crown champions in all of the disciplines."
In order to accomplish that goal, the schedule for Sunday will include two super G's and a women's downhill training run. Should schedule be completed, the plan for Monday would include the men's downhill training run, the women's championship downhill and then the men's championship downhill. The combined champions will be named based on cumulative times from today's slaloms and the Monday title races.
If the downhills cannot be completed, Evans said, the combined would still be awarded based on super G times and slalom times.
