THE FIS has announced two appointments to the administrative level of the organization, naming Sarah Fussek Assistant to the Secretary General and Anja Joerg as Alpine World and Continental Cup Assistant. Both Fussek and Joerg will be on site at the FIS Congress in Cape Town, South Africa, to meet with the representatives of the National Ski Associations, FIS partners and other participants.
The 28-year-old Fussek is a native of Salzburg and has been working at the International Biathlon Union supporting the administration, notably as anti-doping administrator, since 2004. At the same time, she has worked as a graduate assistant in the Institute of International Law and Organizations at the University of Salzburg. In addition to German and English, Fussek is fluent in Russian, speaks basic Polish and Ukrainian and is learning French. She is a keen skier, hailing from a ski family where both parents are ski instructors, and enjoys outdoor activities. She will officially join the FIS on June 30.
Joerg is 32 years old from Domat/Ems in Grisons, Switzerland. She, too, brings several languages in addition to her native Romansh, including German, English, Italian, Spanish and some French and Portuguese. She currently works as assistant to the manager at Golf Aaretal  in Kiesen, Switzerland. A former ski racer (FIS and European Cup levels), she has worked as a ski instructor in Pontresina for more than 10 years as well as in the local ski school administration. Joerg will join the FIS on July 1 and will succeed Sonja Reichen, one of FIS's longest serving employees, who decided to leave after 21 years of service this spring.
The FIS also would like to thank Madeleine Erb for her great work and contribution to the organization as she has decided to take on a new challenge after nine years of service for FIS. Madeleine has been appointed to a manager position with Swiss-Ski in nearby Muri.
