U.S. SKI TEAM alpine racer Resi Stiegler is recovering from surgery in Jackson, Wyo., a little more than two weeks after reinjuring her right knee during a rec league soccer game in her hometown.
Stiegler, 22, one of the top technical racers on the U.S. women’s alpine team, missed most of last season following a crash during a World Cup race in Lienz, Austria, in December. That crash left her with a torn MCL and partially torn ACL and PCL in her right knee, in addition to a broken left arm. This soccer mishap left Stiegler with another ACL tear, a stretched MCL and a fracture of the tibial plateau.
Expecting to return to snow in August when the U.S. team heads to New Zealand for a training camp, Stiegler now will likely spend the next four months rehabbing.
