FIS Race Director Hans Pieren approved preparations on the Levi Black racecourse late Wednesday evening, finding the snow conditions to be very positive.

"We were able to do enough snow and all preparations are in good shape. Now we can start injection and focus on the rest of the preparations for the race slope," says Chief of Race Tapio Kokko.

Pieren was especially pleased with the work of the snow making team, the slope employees and the snowcat drivers.

Off-course preparations are also under way. Large tents for the athletes and audience are taking shape and should be ready by early next week.

"We build up over 1400 square meters of tents for the event with stages and auditorium. We brought the 12 trucks of equipment to Levi. Setting up all the facilities takes two weeks for our group. We started the work on 31st of October, so everything is ready when the competition starts," says Antti Niskala of Lainapeite Ltd.

The main auditorium in front of the finish line will be set to accommodate up to 540 spectators. So everyone else can see the action, two big video screens will cover the rest of the stadium.

The official program for the Levi World Cup begins Friday, Nov. 14 with a massive opening ceremony at 6:45 PM. The ceremony will feature a performance by Kim Herold of the Humane band and conclude with an impressive fireworks display. The women’s public draw will be held immediately following the opening ceremony on the main stage.
