In mid-April the United States Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) announced its five snow sports “Club of the Year” award recipients.

The Waterville Valley Black and Blue Trail Smashers (WVBBTS) freestyle ski club of New Hampshire received the award for the third time in the club’s history.

The Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation in Sun Valley, Idaho received the cross country honors, while Eau Claire Ski Club in Eau Claire, Wisconsin earned the nordic combined and ski jumping club of the year award.

The Stratton Mountain School of Vermont secured the snowboarding club of the year award, and the alpine ski racing club of the year is the Squaw Valley Ski Team of California.

“The club of the year is presented to a USSA Competition Club in each sport, which has distinguished itself in providing direction to young athletes through high-level competition programs resulting in athletic success,” wrote USSA CEO Bill Marolt in letters of congratulations to the clubs.

The awards will be presented during the USSA Congress 2009 at the Chairman’s Awards Dinner May 15.
